AC Milan Break Transfer Record for Gonçalo Ramos

AC Milan is set to make Gonçalo Ramos the most expensive signing in the club's history after agreeing to a €75 million deal with Paris Saint-Germain, according to Fabrizio Romano. Earlier, the club record transfer was held by Rafael Leão's move to Milan from French club Lille for €50 million in 2019; now Milan will pay €75 million to sign Gonçalo Ramos, which makes him the most expensive player in club history.

Ruben Amorim's First Major Signing

Goncalo Ramos is the first signing under I Rossoneri’s new manager, Ruben Amorim, the new management, as they are planning a major rebuild of the team. Ramos is expected to be the club's first-choice striker under Amorim ahead of Santiago Gimenez, who is expected to leave the club following a disappointing season.

The 25-year-old was not a preferred striker in the star-studded PSG side, but he regularly appeared from the bench and scored 10 goals for Enrique's side.

A Complete Modern No. 9

He is a player who can drop into deeper positions to receive the ball and create combinations with teammates to create chances. He is an excellent holder of the ball. The striker is also good at picking up positions between the opposition's defenders and then exploiting space behind the defensive line.

As Ramos is coming from Luis Enrique's team, his off-the-ball movement and pressing are superlative. His powerful finishing from inside the penalty area, combined with his ability to drop deep and link play, makes him a constant attacking threat.

Is Gonçalo Ramos Overpriced?

According to FotMob, Gonçalo Ramos is valued at about €39.3 million. AC Milan's reported transfer fee is nearly 2 times that amount. This has led to discussions among fans about whether the club overpaid for the striker. However, Milan believes Ramos' age, tactical profile, and long-term potential justify the investment as they begin a new era under Ruben Amorim.
