Norway Mark World Cup Return in Style

Norway registered a dominating 4-1 victory in their first game after returning to the tournament after 28 years of waiting.

Norwegians completely outplayed Iraq in their opener with a dominating second-half performance after a testing first half.

Haaland Stars With Brace and Assist

Star player Erling Haaland enjoyed his debut World Cup match with a brace and an assist against Iraq in Dallas. Haaland opened the scoring by converting the cross from Antonio Nusa on the left wing, and later, in the 43rd minute, he restored Norway's lead after Hussein's equalizer for Iraq.

Haaland assisted Kristian Thorstvedt’s header in the final minutes, which completed the victory of the Norwegian team after years of waiting in the world football summit.

The Manchester City striker led the team from the front to victory. This start will be a major boost for Norway ahead of the match against Senegal and France in Group I.

Norway Take Control After the Break

In the first half, Iraq tested Norwegian defense by creating multiple chances and scoring a goal, but in the second half, Norway rose to the occasion and dominated over the Asians. Iraq failed to cope with the physical strength and intensity of Norway's players.

Gresshingstene’s players had an impressive day in Dallas in the opener. Several players delivered memorable performances in their World Cup debut, including Odegaard, Haaland, Sorloth, and Nusa.

Sorloth did a good job in his role on the right side of attack, but he is less likely to survive there in upcoming matches against Senegal and France because he lacks the dynamism needed against high-intensity teams for that role.

Senegal Clash Looms Large

The team will face Senegal in their second match in the group stage next week. This match could likely be a decider to find one of the top two teams in the group.
