Shock Decision Ends Edwards' Time at Wolves
Wolves have sacked their manager Rob Edwards with immediate effect and replaced him with Portuguese manager Cesar Peixoto, reports talkSPORT.
The decision comes as a surprise given previous assurances that Edwards would remain in charge for next season.
Edwards was also a key part of bringing Mexican striker Raul Jimenez and English fullback Kieran Trippier to the team this summer. Despite the relegation.
Manager Informed of Exit After Social Media Reports
Rob Edwards came to know about his successor through social media and immediately contacted Wolves' management for clarification. Then on the phone call, they informed Rob Edwards about his dismissal, much to his disbelief. He told talkSPORT.
The British manager left Middlesbrough in November 2025 to join Wolves following the dismissal of Vitor Pereira from the West Midlands club. Under Edwards, the team won just 5 matches from 30 games and was relegated to the championship.
However, the team and fans believed the quality of players was the key issue and backed the manager to rebuild the team with high-quality additions in the summer, but they changed their decision and decided to appoint Cesar Peixoto as the new manager.
Peixoto Arrives After Impressive Work at Gil Vicente
Cesar Peixoto, a former Benfica player, started his coaching career in 2019 after retirement from professional football. Despite his success in Portugal, Peixoto remains relatively unknown outside the Portuguese football scene.
His last season with Gil Vicente was impressive, with a 6th-place finish in Portugal's top tier with 50 points from 34 matches.
Peixoto will join with Wolves from the next season in the EFL, set to begin from the second week of August.
