Key Points & Highlights
  • Tottenham are closing in on Savinho and pursuing Omar Marmoush as Roberto De Zerbi looks to reshape Spurs' attack ahead of the new season.

Tottenham are stepping up their efforts to reshape their attack, with Savinho and Omar Marmoush both emerging as major targets for Roberto De Zerbi. Spurs have reached an agreement in principle for Savinho in a deal worth around £85 million and are also in advanced talks for Marmoush.

These arrivals are a part of a major squad overhaul in the team’s attack after narrowly escaping relegation last year. The final third has been a concerning factor for the club in last season due to inconsistent performances and recurring injury issues, but they haven’t sanctioned a sale for any attacker but are now set to bring two attackers to the team.

Why does Savinho fit De Zerbi's system?

Spurs have been admirers of Savinho since the winter transfer window, but the deal collapsed in the final minutes. This time the player will undergo medicals in London and will sign a long-term contract with the club. He joined City in the summer of 2024 from La Liga club Girona but did not rise up to the expectations in his City career. In his debut season he scored once and assisted 8 in the league, but in his second season he scored once and assisted once in the same number of games.

Despite a disappointing chapter in Manchester City, he still holds huge potential; that's what De Zerbi and Spurs see in him. He is a versatile player who could feature on either wing and even as an attacking midfielder.

Savinho's versatility makes him an interesting fit for De Zerbi. He can operate from either wing or move into a more central attacking role, while his pace and ability to carry the ball can give Spurs another way to break through defensive lines.

His willingness to drop deeper and help build attacks could also suit a Spurs side looking to draw opponents forward before attacking the space they leave behind. The Brazilian is a very quick player whose best recorded speed is 34.48 km/h, which will be vital for De Zerbi's style of play.

What would Marmoush bring to Tottenham?

Marmoush’s deal could reportedly be completed in the next hours; his profile is very unique and could be the source of creativity for Spurs under De Zerbi. He joined the city from Frankfurt in January 2025 and then had an excellent half of the season with 7 goals and 1 assist, but his form dipped in the next season following several injury concerns; his playing time got limited following the arrival of Ryan Cherki and Antonio Semenyo.

Marmoush could offer something different from Savinho, particularly in the way he creates chances around the box. His close control, acceleration, and ability to find space in crowded areas could give Spurs another player capable of turning possession into genuine attacking opportunities.

He could play any role in the attack, as he is comfortable with both feet and has the ability to break defense with passes; the Egyptian also possesses an eye for goal during the attack.

What could go wrong for Tottenham?

However, both deals come with a degree of risk, as neither player has consistently shown that they can perform at the level required in the Premier League.

There is no guarantee that the two signings will immediately solve Tottenham's attacking problems. Both players are arriving with questions to answer after inconsistent periods at Manchester City, while Spurs will be asking them to take on greater responsibility at a club that needs an immediate improvement in the final third.

With Kulusevski, Odobert, and Kudus all dealing with injuries, the new signings could be under pressure to make an impact right from the start.
