Real Madrid have completed the signing of Ghanaian defender Oscar Naasei from Granada for a reported €2 million, according to Fabrizio Romano. The 21-year-old will initially join Real Madrid Castilla as the club continues to invest in young defensive talent.
Naasei set to begin with Castilla
The player has been on the radar of Real Madrid since last summer and intensified talks in recent weeks to bag his signature. Rayo Vallecano was also in the race to sign him from Granada, but the player's preference was to join Real Madrid.
Even though he will be registered with Real Madrid Castilla initially, his involvement in the first team can’t be written off. Recent examples show that Castilla registration does not necessarily prevent a player from being involved with the senior squad when their performances warrant it.
What Naasei can offer Real Madrid
His ability to operate at both center-back and right-back gives Madrid flexibility, while his pace could allow him to defend larger spaces when playing in a higher defensive line.
His height of 185 cm gives him an aerial advantage in duels and during set-piece attacking.
Medical completed ahead of Castilla move
He joined the youth academy of Granada in 2023 and debuted for the senior team last season. He also appeared for the senior team against Real Oviedo and Mallorca this season as a substitute.
The player has completed his medical with Real Madrid and is ready to join the Castilla squad under Julián López de Lerma.
