Bournemouth Completes €30m Deal for Álvaro Rodríguez
Bournemouth have reached an agreement to sign former Real Madrid player Álvaro Rodríguez from Elche in a deal worth €30 million, including add-ons, as the Cherries continue strengthening their squad ahead of their first-ever European campaign, as per The Athletic. Alvaro has been a product of the Real Madrid youth academy since 2020; he also featured in 7 games for the first team before leaving for Elche on a permanent deal.
Real Madrid Set for €15m Windfall
Real Madrid are set to receive €15 million from Álvaro's move to Bournemouth after retaining 50% of the player's economic rights when they sold him to Elche last year. This deal gave a major financial boost for Real Madrid in addition to the amount gained from the transfer of Nico Paz and Victor Muñoz.
Bournemouth Strengthen for European Football
Bournemouth view Rodríguez as an important addition ahead of their first-ever Europa League campaign under new head coach Marco Rose.
The Uruguayan striker excelled at Elche with 7 goals and 5 assists from 34 La Liga appearances last season; he also spent a loan season at Getafe from Real Madrid in the 2024-25 season.
What Álvaro Rodríguez Brings to Marco Rose's Team
The 21-year-old player is 1.93 m tall and has a massive physical presence on the opposition half; rather than being in the opposition box, Alvaro Rodrigues can drop into midfield to link play and create numerical superiority.
He can act as a focal point for the team during direct plays with his outstanding pace, decision-making, and clinical striking in the final third. The player has shown excellent quality with decision-making and shooting technique inside the box at Elche.
A Perfect Fit Alongside Evanilson?
The player will join Marco Rose's Bournemouth from the 2026-27 season as a striker along with Brazilian striker Evanilson, who has been a key part of the team from 2024.
