Anderson attracting major interest
Elliot Anderson has emerged as one of the standout names in the summer transfer window for the 2026-27 season, with Manchester City and Manchester United interested in the Nottingham Forest midfielder following his impressive performance this season.
The English youngster earned his place in the World Cup squad of three lions following a great season with Forest and became one of Thomas Tuchel’s preferred midfield options.
Manchester City and Manchester United are both preparing to compete for the midfielder’s signature.
Manchester clubs enter race
Manchester City and Manchester United are both expected to compete for the midfielder’s signature according to Fabrizio Romano. The managerial change from Pep Guardiola to Enzo Maresca for next season will not affect the plan of Manchester City to pursue a deal for the homegrown midfielder.
Anderson is viewed as an ideal profile for Manchester United in the midfield. Following the departure of Casemiro, United are continuously trying to push for the player despite competition from cross-city rivals.
World Cup boosts valuation
As reported by the BBC, Nottingham Forest believes Elliot Anderson could be the biggest sale in European football this summer, so the club is delaying negotiations in anticipation of a higher valuation after the World Cup.
Nottingham Forest are currently demanding £105 million, which is the same amount paid by Arsenal to Declan Rice, but Manchester City values the player at £80 million.
Anderson rising rapidly
Anderson joined Nottingham Forest during the summer of the 2024 season for £35 million and became one of the best midfielders in the Premier League in the last two seasons in the number 8 role. The English midfielder made 8 goal contributions and missed just one match in both seasons.
The player has maintained an excellent injury record in the last two seasons despite being the workhorse in midfield, carrying out duties of ball progression, defensive workload, playmaking & passing.
