The Athletic correspondent David Ornstein writes off the possibility of the left back’s move to Manchester United in this transfer window following the departure of big names including Sandro Tonali, Gordon, and Bruno Guimarães from the Magpies.
As per the words of David Ornstein from The Athletic FC podcast, Newcastle United have decided to keep Lewis Hall on the team, especially following the departure of Eddie Howe from the managerial role. New manager Mathias Jaissle views the full-back as a crucial player in his system and wants to tie him into a new contract as a part of the long-term project.
United have been admirers of Lewis Hall for a long time and want to bring him into Old Trafford as the long-term replacement for Luke Shaw, who is struggling with recurring injury issues, but Newcastle has closed the doors for the deal.
Manchester United turn to alternative targets
However, one midfielder and left back remain the priority of Manchester United this summer, as Harry Amass is allowed to leave on loan after a decent start to preseason.
According to Alex Crook, Antonee Robinson of Fulham remains an option for Manchester United, the Red Devils consider the American left back a cheaper alternative to Lewis Hall in the transfer window.
