  • Liverpool have secured Ronald Araújo on loan from Barcelona as they replace the departed Ibrahima Konaté.

Barcelona approves Araújo's Liverpool move

The Italian journalist confirms that Barcelona's sporting director, Deco, approved the loan deal for the Uruguayan.

Liverpool strengthens after Konaté's departure

Liverpool wanted to strengthen at center-back following Ibrahima Konaté's departure to Real Madrid as a free agent. The Reds managed to bring in Jeremy Jacquet, but there were no movements for another signing to strengthen the center back, but they have acquired the services of Araujo for next season.

Why Araújo is leaving Camp Nou

The Uruguayan joined Barcelona in 2018 from Boston River. After his breakthrough performances with Barcelona Athletic, he became a key part of Barcelona's first team from the 2019-20 season, but his chances were limited in recent seasons due to the presence of the youngster Pau Cubarsi in the role and considering inconsistent performances from the 27-year-old center back.

A move to Liverpool will be an advantage for both Araujo and the English club, as the player is looking for minutes and the Reds want depth in the squad.

Araújo is expected to complete the formalities in England before joining Liverpool's squad ahead of the new season.
