Former Liverpool Manager Arne Slot Targeted by Al Ahli After Newcastle Twist

Jaissle Linked With Newcastle Move

Arne Slot is linked to the Al Ahli job, as Matthias Jaissle is on his way to the Premier League to replace Eddie Howe in the Newcastle United job, according to Ben Jacobs of TalkSPORT. The German manager joined Al Ahli in 2023 to replace Pitso Mosimane in the manager role after leaving RB Leipzig.

He had a successful spell with the Jeddah Giants in the past 3 years, where he helped the team to win back-to-back Asian titles despite not winning the Saudi Pro League title.

With the Saudi Pro League season approaching, Al Ahli are expected to move quickly to appoint a successor if Jaissle departs for Newcastle.

Arne Slot Emerges as Leading Candidate

The report claims Arne Slot is on the radar of all Ahli management to replace Matthias Jaissle in the team, as the manager is a free agent after his spell at Liverpool. Liverpool dismissed the manager earlier in the window due to the inconsistent performances of the team last season.

Slot joined Liverpool in the summer of 2024 to replace Jurgen Klopp. He won the Premier League title with the team in his first season, followed by a fifth-place finish in the next season.

Former Liverpool Boss Open to New Challenge

He held discussions with AC Milan and Fulham to take over the managerial job, but neither went through. He is also linked to the vacant head coaching position in the Netherlands national team after Ronald Koeman resigned on June 30. 

Al Ahli are also eyeing former Nottingham Forest boss Vitor Pereira for the manager role, considering his previous experience with Al Ahli and Al Shabab.
