Deschamps Blends Youth and Experience

France enters the World Cup as one of the favorites to win the tournament. Didier Deschamps assembled a squad that blends experienced players and elite young talents who are making big waves in the world of football.

Deschamps' squad includes experienced players from 2018's triumphant campaign like Mbappé, Kanté, and the Hernandez brothers and new generation talents like Désiré Doué and Maghnes Akliouche.

France is flooded with a massive number of young talents and experienced players, so Deschamps was forced to omit experienced players like Benjamin Pavard, Khéphren Thuram, Florian Thauvin, and Tolisso.

Deschamps was also forced to leave out several talented youngsters like Castello Lukeba and Eli Kroupi from the World Cup squad to find the balance.

Elite Goalkeeping Options

France has top-class goalkeepers on their list, with Mike Maignan of AC Milan as their undisputed starter, along with Brice Samba and Robin Risser, who add strength to the bench.

Defensive Depth Among the Best

Jules Koundé will be the starting right back for France because the French team heavily relies on transitional attacks using pace. In such a system, his defensive discipline allows France's attacking players greater freedom.

Malo gusto can offer pace and energy to the attack from the bench.

The central defensive unit is one of France's biggest strengths in the World Cup, with William Saliba, Ibrahima Konaté, Lucas Hernandez, Dayot Upamecano, and Maxence Lacroix forming an elite pool of center-backs capable of competing against any attack in world football.

Most of these defenders are either entering or currently in the peak years of their careers in top European clubs. These center backs can provide a blend of pace, physicality, aerial dominance, and top-level experience in the heart of defense.

Theo Hernandez will be the undisputed starter in the left-back role; he is considered one of the most dangerous attacking fullbacks in the world

Lucas Digne and Lucas Hernández can offer additional experience and depth to the left back role.

Kanté Leads the Midfield

Experienced leader N'Golo Kante will lead the French midfield on the world stage once again. Kante was a key part of the last two World Cup campaigns, when France made it into the final in 2022 and won the title in 2018.

Experience and leadership quality of Kante remain major assets for France heading into the World Cup.

Aurelien Tchouameni can give defensive solidity to the team in midfield, while Deshcamp’s favorite midfielder Rabiot can offer balance and physicality.

Kante, Rabiot, and Tchouameni are supposed to be the starting midfield in crucial games, with Manu Koné and Warren Zaire-Emery adding another layer of quality and depth to the squad.

France's Attack Strikes Fear

France possesses arguably the most frightening attack in the tournament, with Mbappé, Dembélé, and Olise providing an extraordinary mix of pace, creativity, flair, and goal-scoring threat.

Their bench is powered by elite talent such as Desire Doué, Rayan Cherki, Bradley Barcola, Marcus Thuram, Jean-Philippe Mateta, and Maghnes Akliouche, giving Didier Deschamps game-changing options throughout the tournament.

The French team’s attacking depth gives Deschamps a welcome headache, as multiple elite forwards are capable of starting every game.

Creative Midfield Question Remains

The biggest weakness of this French team is not having a creative midfielder like Vitinha, Pedri, or Rodri. The current midfield has defensive solidity and box-to-box energy, but France may still struggle against an aggressive press without a creative midfielder to operate in the middle of the pitch.

France has players like Rayan Cherki and Olise, who are highly creative, but their presence will be in the final third of the pitch, not in deep or middle during the build-ups.

Deschamps may try to solve this issue tactically by deploying Warren Zaïre-Emery in the starting 11. He can offer press resistance and a good range of passing.

Attack is the strength

The strength of Deschamps' squad is the immense depth of the attacking players. The forwards have experience and quality, which every team wishes to have on the world stage. It consists of a Ballon d'Or winner of last season and a golden boot winner of the last World Cup.

France's Chances of World Cup Glory

France will play in Group I along with Iraq, Norway, and Senegal in a comparatively competitive group. However, France is the favorite to become champion of Group I.

France has one of the best squads in world football. If Deschamps finds the right balance in midfield and avoids injuries, Les Bleus have a good chance of winning the World Cup.
