Everton agrees to deal to sign Christian Nørgaard

Norgard emerged as a priority target for David Moyes following the departure of Idrissa Gueye from the club as a free agent. The 32-year-old was open to a move in the summer after struggling for regular first-team opportunities at Arsenal.

How Nørgaard's Arsenal spell unfolded

The Danish international joined Arsenal last summer from Brentford on a two-year deal for a reported fee of £10 million, with the possibility of performance-related add-ons worth £5 million. He was a regular starter for Brentford from 2019 to 2025 and captained the West London side for 2 years, but his chances were limited to 7 Premier League matches in an Arsenal jersey under Arteta, as the midfield is stacked with star players like Declan Rice, Zubimendi, and Mikel Merino.

Even after Mikel Merino's injury late in the season, Nørgaard struggled for opportunities, with Mikel Arteta often opting for left back Myles Lewis-Skelly in midfield.

What Nørgaard brings to Everton's midfield

He became an ideal choice for David Moyes, considering his experience in the Premier League and versatility to play in deep midfield and box-to-box roles. The player is a good passer of the ball in midfield and possesses excellent defensive coverage in the team. Norgaard is an aerially dominant player in the midfield and has the ability to play in the center-back position comfortably.

Medical and official announcement expected soon

According to Fabrizio Romano, Nørgaard is expected to undergo a medical before signing his contract, which would make him Everton's fourth signing of the summer.

Arsenal are expected to strengthen their midfield further and continue exploring options in the transfer market.
