After missing out on the signature of Chrislain Matsima from Augsburg, the Japanese international became a priority for Palace manager Patrick Vieira to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season, where the team is going to participate in the Europa League after winning the Conference League last season under Oliver Glasner.
This move marks the return of the versatile defender to the Premier League after leaving Arsenal last summer on mutual consent as a free agent. In December 2025, he joined Ajax but appeared in only 9 matches for the team in the Eredivisie due to injury concerns.
