Barcelona Reach Agreement With Borussia Dortmund
Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement in principle for Karim Adeyemi's transfer in a deal worth €22 million plus €7 million in add-ons, which are considered highly achievable, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Barcelona showed and accelerated their interest in the German winger in the last 36 hours and closed the deal immediately to avoid potential hijacking and to bring him into preseason camp set to begin in England under manager Hansi Flick.
Why Hansi Flick Wanted Karim Adeyemi
He is arriving to the Catalan giants as one of the preferred options for Hansi Flick because Flick has already worked with the 24-year-old on the German national team and is aware of his potential to be a world-class player. The player's availability on both flanks, his directness in transitional attacks, and his off-the-ball work rate make him an attractive option for Hansi Flick's high-intensity system at Barcelona.
Transfer Fee and Contract Details
The player is set to undergo a medical before signing a five-year contract with the team. Borussia Dortmund accepted a lower guaranteed fee in exchange for a 35% sell-on clause, reducing their initial asking price of €40 million. He is set to earn a €6 million net salary at Barcelona during his contract.
Jorge Mendes Played Key Role in the Deal
Jorge Mendez, the agent of Adeyemi, is the driving force behind his dream move to Barcelona. Fabrizio Romano indicated that when the player signed with Jorge Mendez as his agent, he informed him that his dream destination is FC Barcelona this summer. The player will undergo medicals next week and join the team for preseason camp.
Adeyemi is expected to become Barcelona's second attacking signing of the summer after Antony Gordon, adding further pace, depth, and versatility alongside Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Gordon.
