Key Players to Watch

Christos Tzolis: The new arrival from Club Brugge had a huge impact in the preseason in the left winger role. He provided two assists against Manchester City in the Community Shield final to win the first trophy of the season ahead of his debut in the Premier League.

He brings direct threat with his pace and ball-carrying along with eye to goal from the left wing, which could give Coventry's defense an early test

Caleb Yirenky: Yirenkyi could be important to Coventry's hopes of breaking through Arsenal's press. His ability to carry the ball and use his physicality could help the Sky Blues turn defensive recoveries into dangerous counter-attacks.

Team News

Arsenal will miss William Saliba and Jurrien Timber for the opening match due to injury. Declan Rice is likely to appear in the second half as a substitute, while Saka could return to the starting 11 instead of Noni Madueke from the Community Shield final. Tzolis and Havertz also cemented their spot in the starting 11 through preseason performances.

Coventry will not feature Haji Wright and Luke Woolfenden, as they are sidelined with injuries. Several players are set to make their Premier League debut with Coventry in the opening match, which may affect the performances of the Sky Blues in the opening weeks.

Where the game could have won

Arsenal are likely to dominate possession and spend long periods around Coventry's penalty area, putting pressure on Carl Rushworth and the visitors' defense. Coventry's best route into the game could come when they win the ball, with Yirenkyi and their attacking players looking to exploit the space behind Arsenal's full-backs.

The key battle could be whether Coventry can survive Arsenal's sustained pressure and create enough danger on the counter.

Predicted lineups

Arsenal: Raya; White, Mosquera, Gabriel, Calafiori; Lewis-Skelly, Guimaraes; Saka, Odegaard, Tzolis; Havertz

Coventry City: Rushworth; Van Ewijk, Thomas, Amenda, Markelo; Onyeka, Grimes, Yirenkyi; Tchaouna, Simms, Thomas-Asante

Prediction

Arsenal have the greater individual quality and home advantage, while Coventry's best chance will be to stay compact and threaten on the counter. Arteta's side should have enough control to secure three points, although Lampard's team could make the opening stages uncomfortable.

Prediction: Arsenal 2:0 Coventry City
