As AFC Bournemouth prepares for a long season with Premier League and European football for the first time in their history, the fitness of their key players will be closely watched. The club is currently dealing with a number of injury concerns, with several players facing spells on the sidelines.
Eli Junior Kroupi
Injury: Foot Status: Injured Expected return: October/November 2026
Kroupi was the topscorer for AFC Bournemouth last season with 13 goals in the Premier League in his debut campaign. The player sustained a foot injury during Bournemouth's training camp in Austria, and he has undergone surgery. According to the BBC, the player will be sidelined for up to 4 months and will miss a major chunk of the team’s debut Europa League campaign.
If the recovery goes well, the player will be back to the pitch in October or November.
Julian Araujo
Injury: Left Thigh Status: Injured Expected return: To be confirmed
The Mexican international was injured in Cherries' opening preseason friendly against St. Pauli in Austria. The club confirmed that the player underwent surgery on his left thigh due to the sustained muscle injury.
The player will undergo rehabilitation under the club’s medical department, and the time of return is still unknown, as it is a semi-long-term injury. This injury halted his possible return to Celtic after spending half of last season on loan with the Hoops.
Veljko Milosavljevic
Injury: Knee Status: Injured Expected return: To be confirmed
The 19-year-old center back sustained a semi-long-term knee injury, which forces him to the sidelines for months; however, the timeline of his return has not yet been revealed. Injury of the Serbian talent who was expected to be a key part of Marco Rose's team this season has changed Bournemouth's plans, and they are looking to add another center back.
Ryan Christie
Issue: Suspension Status: Suspended Expected return: August 29, 2026
Apart from the injured players, Christie will miss the opening Premier League match of the season due to a reckless challenge on Timothy Castagne in matchweek 36; the midfielder will return for Bournemouth's match against Everton on 29th August.
